A Warm Welcome From All Of Us At The Forge,

We’re thrilled to introduce ourselves.

The Forge Center for the Arts was created by a small team of theatre lovers who came together through recent collaborations and felt inspired to build something new for our community.

At the helm is Ellen Wheeler, a three-time Emmy Award winner who returned home to Cedar City with a passion for building something meaningful for our community.

Working alongside board directors Kathy Heer, Milton & Rochelle McLelland, and Susan Baker—plus a rapidly growing group of supporters—she’s helping shape a joyful, community-centered arts experience from the ground up.

Rather than trying to build someone else’s vision, we felt called to create our own—a place where creativity thrives, joy is shared, and the drama stays on the stage.

Stepping out on our own has made us deeply invested in creating something meaningful for Cedar City. The Forge isn’t just a theatre company—it’s a dream we’re forging together, fueled by heart, hope, and the belief that the arts can bring real light to Southern Utah.

Cedar City is blessed with extraordinary arts organizations:

• CCCMT, where children discover the magic of theatre.• IMPAC, which trains and mentors emerging performers.• CVCT, our beloved community theatre that anchors the local stage.• And the world-renowned Utah Shakespeare Festival, a treasure in its own right.

We don’t seek to compete with these wonderful institutions. Instead, our goal is to fill a gap—to offer high-quality, affordable, year-round community theatre that complements what already exists. A space for families, teens, adults, newcomers, and longtime theatre lovers alike.

And we’re moving at a lightning pace.

It’s been only five weeks since The Forge was born, and this past weekend we celebrated the launch of our first annual Christmas at The Forge—featuring two original productions created right here for our community.

Your enthusiasm and support have already shown us that Cedar City is ready for something like this.

Now, we’d love to invite you to be part of our beginning.

Come see a show. Grow with us. Support a mission built on heart, connection, and creativity. Help us shape something beautiful for our community—together.
